Zuckerberg Confirms He's Still Ready for Cage Fight with Musk
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, Facebook's parent company, confirmed in a Threads post that he's still up for a showdown with Elon Musk in the cage.
"Today I'm ready. I offered August 26th when he first challenged me, but he didn't confirm. Not holding my breath," wrote Zuckerberg.
Since June, the two tech billionaires, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, have been talking about a brawl with each other in the cage. The proposal, which seemingly originated from a random Twitter user, has been a topic of discussion ever since.
Twitter has since been renamed X.
Zuckerberg stated that he suggested the fight date of August 26th, but Musk didn't respond. However, Musk proposed to livestream the event on his platform X.
Yesterday, Zuckerberg expressed his willingness to take on Elon Musk and awaits a response from his rival.
"I'm up for the cage match if he is," wrote Musk on June 20th.
To which Zuckerberg soon replied, "Send me the location."
On Sunday afternoon, Zuckerberg posted on his own Threads platform, asserting that he's "ready today" and that he proposed the fight on August 26th when Musk first challenged him.
"I offered August 26th when he first threw the challenge, but he didn't confirm. Not holding my breath," wrote Zuckerberg.
A few hours before that, Musk announced that the fight would be streamed live on X, with all proceeds going to charity for veterans. However, it seems Zuckerberg did not agree to these terms.
"Shouldn't we use a more reliable platform that can actually collect money for charity?" Zuckerberg wrote on Threads in response to Musk's proposal to livestream the fight on X.
Earlier on Sunday, Musk claimed to have been training for the fight by lifting weights.
Apart from the posts by Zuckerberg and Musk on social media, there are no official indications that the fight is actually happening.
Previously, UFC president Dana White stated that they're "absolutely serious" about the fight.
But Elon Musk's mother, Maye, seemed to dispel the likelihood of such an event taking place when she tweeted on June 22nd, "The fight is off".
