Death Toll Rises to 21 in Massive Russian Airstrike on Kyiv, Over 130 Injured

As of 7:00 a.m. local time, the death toll from Russia’s devastating overnight assault on Kyiv has risen to 21, with at least 134 people injured,
The Gaze reports on this with reference to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES).
Rescue teams working through the night recovered the bodies of five additional victims from beneath the rubble of a partially collapsed nine-story apartment building in the Solomianskyi district.
In total, 16 people were confirmed dead at that site alone. Search and recovery operations continue.
Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi districts also sustained severe damage in the strike, with extensive destruction reported to civilian infrastructure and residential buildings.
The assault on June 17 involved a combination of more than 440 drones and 32 missiles, making it one of the largest aerial bombardments of Kyiv since the full-scale invasion began.
Footage from the aftermath shows twisted metal, charred vehicles, and emergency responders pulling survivors from debris-strewn streets.
The United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has suggested the strike may constitute the most lethal attack on the capital in almost a year.
Ukrainian authorities and international partners have condemned the attack as a grave violation of humanitarian law, emphasizing that the victims were overwhelmingly civilians.
As rescue workers continue to comb through the wreckage, officials warn that the casualty figures could rise further.
