Denmark Makes Substantial Contribution of DKK 91 million to Strengthen Cybersecurity and IT in Ukraine
Denmark will donate DKK 91 million for cyber projects and to support the development of cybersecurity and defence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. The donation is made under the auspices of the Estonia and Luxembourg-led IT Coalition for Ukraine, which Denmark has joined along with a number of other countries.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Denmark.
"Cyberattacks are an integral part of Russia's war in Ukraine, where Russia is trying to weaken Ukraine's ability to defend itself through cyberattacks," the statement said.
That is why Denmark and other members of the IT Coalition signed a cooperation agreement the day before at a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence in the Ramstein format.
According to the agreement, Denmark is donating DKK 91 million to Ukraine for priority cyber projects in the IT Coalition, which should help strengthen the overall cyber defence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"The donation is an important contribution to the long-term support for strengthening Ukraine's cyber defences. Since the beginning of the invasion, Denmark has made a significant contribution to Ukraine's fight for freedom, and this also applies to the cyber domain. We have made several donations to support cyber defence and critical IT infrastructure in Ukraine. So it is also natural that we contribute to supporting Ukraine in an area where we are already active," said Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
In addition to Denmark, the coalition includes Estonia, Luxembourg, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Ukraine. So far, Denmark, Estonia and Luxembourg have made financial donations to the coalition.
As previously reported by The Gaze, the Ramstein Defence Contact Group has provided military assistance to Ukraine totalling more than $80 billion and continues to make collective efforts to ensure continued support.
