Europe's Most and Least Stressful Airports This Summer
Paris, London, and Rome predictably top the list of cities with the most stressful airports in Europe, best to avoid this summer. The least stressful airports were found to be Billund (Denmark), Luxembourg (Luxembourg), and Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania, as reported by TimeOut.
During the summer holidays, car rental experts compiled rankings of the ten most and least stressful airports in Europe. They examined data such as the total number of airport visitors, distance from the city centre, weekly parking fees, the overall number of restaurants at the airport, flight departure delay frequency, and even Wi-Fi loading speed.
Several key factors can spoil your journey before it even begins: flight delays, expensive parking, and dreadfully long queues.
Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris tops the list of the most stressful airports in Europe. It sees over 57 million passengers pass through annually and is a colossal 40 km away from the centre of Paris, making it very inconvenient for travel.
Among the top ten most stressful airports are those in popular tourist destinations like Rome, London, Munich, Amsterdam, and Istanbul. Considering recent flight cancellations, summer strikes (which were later cancelled), and huge crowds crowding the halls during the holiday season, it's no wonder that London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports occupy the second and third places.
Frankfurt Airport ranks seventh as it has the most expensive weekly parking (234 euros) and it takes half an hour to get to the city centre. This is ten times more expensive than the cheapest parking spot at Leonardo da Vinci/Fiumicino Airport in Rome, which costs only 20 euros for seven days.
