Lithuania to Assist Moldova in EU Integration
Giedre Balchitite, the Chancellor of the Lithuanian government, has expressed support for Moldova in accelerating its European integration. She has also offered assistance in developing a national crisis management system.
This announcement was made during the fourth Moldova Supporters' Conference in Chișinău, as reported by LRT.
Lithuania is prepared to share its expertise with Moldova, particularly in the analysis of institutional decisions, legal regulations, collaborative reform strategy development, and in establishing a continuous threat monitoring system along with the implementation of relevant technologies.
Balchitite highlighted that as long as the Russian Federation continues its conflict with Ukraine, Moldova faces various challenges to its national security, dealing with external threats and hybrid pressure.
"Looking to the future, Moldova must continue to bolster the resilience of its society, particularly in the face of hybrid threats. This necessitates a well-functioning national crisis management system and administrative resources," stressed Balchitite.
She emphasized that Lithuania has successfully implemented reforms, creating an exemplary National Crisis Management Centre. Lithuania stands ready to share its accumulated experience and expertise with Moldova, aiding in the analysis of institutional decisions, legal regulations, collaborative reform strategy preparation, facilitating the establishment of continuous threat monitoring, and introducing relevant technologies.
Furthermore, Balchitite added that Moldova's European integration remains one of Lithuania's priorities in its foreign policy.
The Moldova Supporters' Conference is an international event aimed at gathering international aid for Moldova.
This year's conference saw the participation of Moldovan President Maia Sandu, German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock, French Minister of Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna, foreign ministers or deputy foreign ministers from various countries, and other officials from more than 50 nations and international organizations.
As previously reported by The Gaze, control over Ukrainian grain, which transits through Lithuania, will be transferred to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, in accordance with an agreement between the Ministers of Agriculture of Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania, shifting it from the Ukrainian-Polish border.
