Lithuania to Boost Ukraine Ammo Support with €20M

Lithuania will provide an additional €20 million in military aid to Ukraine, The Gaze reports, citing LRT. The support is aimed specifically at ammunition, as concerns grow over a potentially challenging summer on the battlefield, Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė announced.
“Summer may be very difficult. Therefore, we need to push forward our support,” Šakalienė told reporters in Brussels ahead of the Ukrainian Defence Contact Group meeting at NATO headquarters.
“Lithuania is going to add €20 million for ammo acquisition, because this is one of the things Ukraine really needs right now.”
Šakalienė also emphasized the significance of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ and the urgent need to strengthen and reorganize Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
“The first and foremost guarantee of Ukraine’s security is its ability to fight — to ensure Russia sees no path forward,” she said.
In June 2023, Lithuania’s State Defence Council committed to allocating at least 0.25% of the country’s GDP annually for military aid to Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale war, Lithuania has provided approximately €800 million in military assistance, with total long-term support surpassing €1.5 billion.
As The Gaze previously reported, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has called for increased sanctions against Russia following a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih in Eastern Ukraine.
