Lithuania to Provide Ukraine with New Package of Military Assistance with Air Defence Systems and Armoured Vehicles
In August, Lithuania will hand over another batch of military aid to Ukraine, which will include, among other things, short-range air defence systems, armoured vehicles and anti-drone equipment.
This was reported by the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence on platform X.
The ministry says that it is preparing another "solid" package of military assistance for Ukraine and that it will arrive in August.
"Soon Lithuania will transfer critically needed short-range air defence systems to Ukraine, thus contributing to the 'air defence coalition' led by Germany, the US and France... We will also transfer other military equipment, weapons and systems that are needed on the battlefield every day. This is an investment in our own security," said Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurynas Kasciunas.
The package will include 14 M113 armoured personnel carriers, short-range air defence systems and missiles, electronic warfare equipment, off-road vehicles with spare parts, tractor trucks, forklift systems, small arms and ammunition, and spare parts.
Earlier in 2024, at Ukraine's request, Lithuania transferred, among other things, artillery ammunition, M577 and M113 armoured vehicles, anti-drone systems, Swedish Carl Gustaf anti-tank grenade launchers, RISE-1 remote detonation systems, a disassembled L-39ZA Albatros training and combat aircraft, and generators.
Over the course of the full-scale war, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with $641 million in military aid.
Also this week, it was reported that drones from 5 Lithuanian manufacturers were successfully tested in Ukraine, and they may receive contracts in the near future.
In addition, this week, Lithuania decided to install permanent fortifications in two locations near the border with Russia's Kaliningrad region.
As The Gaze previously reported, in June, at the EU summit, Lithuania and Estonia signed bilateral security agreements with Ukraine.
