On the eve of 16 May, the NATO Military Committee of the Chiefs of Defence met at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, where 32 Allied Chiefs of Defence focused on the implementation of the Alliance's new defence plans, the transformation of NATO's war fighting and NATO's continued support to Ukraine. The Chiefs of Defence also met with the Ukrainian military leadership in the NATO-Ukraine Council format.

Admiral Bauer said that Ukraine has demonstrated to the world that it is capable of achieving unprecedented success on the battlefield.

"There is nothing they cannot do. All they need... is our help," he told the meeting of the NATO Military Committee of Chiefs of Defence.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Anatoliy Bargylevych, also briefed the NATO Chiefs of Defence on the situation on the ground.

The Chiefs of Defence reaffirmed their firm and unwavering support for Ukraine, highlighting the bravery and sacrifice of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In the first session, dedicated to the transformation of warfare, the Chiefs of Defence met with General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT). This session focused on the future of multidimensional operations, the adaptation of NATO's command and control and NATO's defence planning process.

Opening the session of the NATO Military Committee alongside NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, stressed that NATO is stronger and more ready than ever. And it is getting stronger every day.

"We have the opportunity to build on the groundbreaking work that has already been done. The integration of NATO and national military planning will allow us to do exactly what the NATO flag symbolises: all Allies following the same compass," he said.
