Over 20 Injured as Russia Launches Massive Air Assaults on Kyiv

Russia unleashed one of its most massive and complex overnight air assaults on Kyiv in recent months, injuring at least 23 civilians and causing widespread damage to residential areas and civilian infrastructure.
The Gaze reports on this with reference to a statement made by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
14 of the injured were hospitalized, while others received medical aid on-site or at outpatient facilities.
Among the wounded is a 10-year-old girl, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed.
The air raid, which began late on July 3 and continued into the early hours of July 4, involved a barrage of 550 aerial threats launched from multiple directions.
Ukraine’s Air Force reported that air defense systems successfully neutralized 478 hostile targets, including over 260 Shahed-type drones and two Iskander-K cruise missiles.
Despite this remarkable defensive effort, debris from intercepted munitions fell across six districts in Kyiv, damaging residential buildings, medical facilities, schools, and transport infrastructure.
Fires were reported, and emergency services, including firefighters, medics, and police, have been working non-stop to assist victims and manage the aftermath.
“Every firefighter, police officer, and medical worker who responded last night is a symbol of our strength, duty, and defiance,” Klymenko stated. “The enemy is trying to break us through terror. But we stand strong.”
The assault also reignited calls for urgent international support, particularly for advanced air defense systems.
Ukrainian officials, military and diplomatic representatives, have reiterated that strengthening Ukraine’s air shield is critical for civilian protection.
