Prince Harry Visits Kyiv to Meet Veterans and Support Recovery Efforts

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, has arrived in Kyiv at the invitation of the Ukrainian government, accompanied by representatives of the Invictus Games Foundation.
The Gaze reports this, referring to The Guardian.
His visit aims to draw attention to the plight of wounded servicemen and highlight ongoing recovery efforts for those injured in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters, Harry emphasized that while he cannot end the war, he is determined to support those affected by it.
“We cannot stop the war but what we can do is do everything we can to help the recovery process,” he said. “We can continue to humanise the people involved in this war and what they are going through. We have to keep it in the forefront of people’s minds. I hope this trip will help to bring it home to people because it’s easy to become desensitised to what has been going on.”
The trip was first proposed by Olha Rudnieva, founder and CEO of Superhumans, a rehabilitation center treating soldiers with amputations.
Harry explained that he met Rudnieva by chance in New York earlier this year. After consulting with his wife Meghan and with the British government, he accepted the official invitation to visit Kyiv.
During his stay, the Duke of Sussex is expected to visit the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War and spend time with some 200 veterans who have also been invited.
He is also scheduled to meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and witness war damage firsthand.
Harry has previously backed initiatives supporting Ukraine’s recovery. As The Gaze reported earlier, his foundation pledged $500,000 for projects assisting children affected by the war in Ukraine and in Gaza.
