UK Sends More Storm Shadow Missiles to Ukraine for Long-Range Strikes on Russia
The UK has sent Ukraine a new batch of Storm Shadow cruise missiles to strengthen Kyiv's defense capabilities ahead of winter and support its ability to strike targets in Russia.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to Bloomberg.
According to sources familiar with the situation and who wish to remain anonymous, London has recently replenished its stockpile of Storm Shadow missiles for Ukraine. This decision was made on the expectation that Russia may intensify its attacks against the civilian population in winter.
Although the exact number of missiles transferred has not been disclosed, this move demonstrates the intention of the UK and its allies to continue supporting Ukraine, even as Moscow faces increasing pressure from Western sanctions.
The transfer of missiles took place against the backdrop of U.S. President Donald Trump's refusal to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles. In such circumstances, the British Storm Shadow missiles remain an important element of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' long-range capabilities.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military confirmed the use of these missiles against Russian targets, including a chemical plant, which was the first use of Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory since Trump's return to the White House.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed cautious optimism about the situation in Ukraine, noting that new U.S. sanctions against the Russian oil industry could weaken the Kremlin's ability to continue the war. According to him, Kyiv's allies are now in a “better place” than before.
As The Gaze reported ealier, Keir Starmer has announced that the United Kingdom will accelerate its program to supply Ukraine with more than 5,000 multi-purpose missiles to strengthen Kyiv’s defense ahead of winter.
