Ukraine and France Sign Agreement to Boost French Language Education

Ukraine and France have signed a new administrative agreement aimed at strengthening French language education across Ukraine’s school and university systems.
The deal, concluded on June 2, marks a significant step in bilateral cooperation in the field of education, The Gaze reports, citing the Ministry of Education of Ukraine.
The agreement was signed by Vadym Omelchenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to France, and Olivier Richard, Deputy Director General for Globalization at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
It is designed to deepen and expand the teaching and learning of French in Ukrainian educational institutions, from general secondary schools to higher education.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the agreement sets out a number of collaborative goals. These include support for French language instruction at all levels of education, implementation of the LabelFrancEducation certificate to recognize excellence in bilingual French-language education, and continued professional development opportunities for Ukrainian French teachers through internships and training programs.
The agreement also supports the operation of the Anna Yaroslavna French Lycée in Kyiv, an institution symbolizing Franco-Ukrainian friendship, and plans to establish a national “Network of Excellence” to promote the French language in Ukraine.
Officials from both sides noted that the agreement will not only benefit teachers and students, but also further solidify educational and cultural ties between Ukraine and France, fostering long-term partnership and mutual understanding.
