Ukrainian Boxer Usyk Named Best Boxer of Year by The Ring

The American magazine The Ring has named Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk as the best athlete of 2024, the publication's official website reports.

On 12 January, The Ring Awards-2024 took place in London, where Usyk was recognised as the best boxer of the past year. 

The first fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, which took place in May in Saudi Arabia, won the Event of the Year category. Usyk was also recognised for the ‘Best Round of the Year’ - the 9th round of this fight.

The WBC also recognised Usyk as the best boxer of the year. 

In December 2024, during a rematch, Usyk again defeated the British Tyson Fury, confirming his dominance in the heavyweight division.
