Ukrainian High Jumper Wins Ukraine's First-Ever European Indoor Championship Gold

On 8 March, Ukrainian high jumper Oleh Doroshchuk won a gold medal at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in the men's high jump. This was reported by Suspilne Sport.
The athlete cleared 2.34 metres. This is the first gold medal in the history of Ukraine at the European Indoor High Jump Championships. Oleg also updated his personal record. The previous record was 2.32 metres.
At the same time, his countryman Dmytro Nikitin took 5th place with a result of 2.26 metres.
Jan Stefela of the Czech Republic won silver with a jump of 2.29 metres.
The bronze medal went to Italian Matteo Sioli, whose result was also 2.29.
The Ukrainian's rivals showed the same height, but the Czech used fewer attempts.
For the first time in his career, Doroshchuk reached the final of the European Championships in indoor athletics.
This is the 50th medal for Ukraine at the European Indoor Championships and the first at the tournament in 2025.
This is Ukraine's first gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in the men's high jump. Before that, Andrii Protsenko won silver medals in 2019 and 2023.
Doroshchuk is the seventh best high jumper in the history of Ukraine in the men's high jump and the best in the last 8 years.
On 8 March, well-known Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh qualified for the women's high jump final with the shortest qualifying time of her career.
