35 Medals in Five Days: Ukraine Climbs into the Top 10 of the Medal Table at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris

On the fifth day of the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, Ukraine won 8 more medals: 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. This brings Ukraine's total medal tally since the start of the competition to 35 medals: 5 gold, 12 silver and 18 bronze medals and a place in the top 10 of the medal standings. 

The day before, competitions were held in 14 sports: football, boccia, goalball, archery, badminton, swimming, table tennis, shooting, sitting volleyball, basketball, athletics, rugby, tennis and triathlon. A total of 61 sets of medals were up for grabs on the day of the Games in Paris.

‘Gold: Denis Ostapchenko (swimming, 50 m, backstroke, class S3), Igor Tsvetov (athletics, 100 m, class T35).

‘Silver: Andrey Trusov (swimming, 400 m, freestyle, class S7), Ilya Yaremenko (swimming, 50 m, freestyle, class S13).

‘Bronze: Sergey Palamarchuk (swimming, 50 m, backstroke, class S3), Alexey Virchenko (swimming, 50 m, freestyle, class S13), Alexander Litvinenko (athletics, long jump, class T36), Zoya Ovsiy (athletics, discus throw, class F51).

Thanks to two gold medals on the fifth day of the 2024 Paralympic Games, Ukraine entered the top 10 in the medal standings. 

The leader in the medal standings of the 2024 Paralympic Games is China, which has already won 87 medals (43 gold).
