Farewell Speech: Joe Biden Summarises the Achievements of His US Presidency
In his farewell speech from the Oval Office, US President Joe Biden summed up the key achievements of his administration, including Ukraine's support for strengthening NATO and the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas terrorists.
‘Internationally, we've strengthened NATO, Ukraine remains free, and we've outcompeted China,’ Biden said.
He added that while it will take time to fully experience all the achievements, ‘the seeds we have sown will grow and flourish for decades.’
‘At home, we have created nearly 17 million new jobs - more than any other administration in a single term. More people have access to health insurance than ever before. Internationally, we've strengthened NATO, Ukraine remains free, and we've outcompeted China,’ Biden said.
The US president also highlighted the agreement between Israel and Hamas terrorists.
‘Before I get started, let me tell you about some important news that happened this morning. After eight months of continuous negotiations, my administration, Israel, and Hamas have reached a ceasefire and hostage agreement, the elements of which I outlined in May of this year,’ Biden added.
The President also stressed the importance of international cooperation, saying that his administration has done everything possible to ensure that America remains a leader in the world, defending freedom and democracy.
In addition, Biden called on the next administration to continue efforts to preserve international order, saying: ‘I want America to prosper, and that's why I ensured a peaceful transition of power to show the power of our example.’
He also expressed his deep gratitude to the American people, stressing that he believes in the nation's resilience and ability to overcome difficulties.
Also, US President Joe Biden warned that an American oligarchy is being formed in the United States among a few wealthy individuals who have accumulated a dangerous concentration of power.
Biden expressed concern about the US technology-industrial complex, comparing it to President Dwight Eisenhower's warning in his 1961 farewell address. Eisenhower, at the end of his eight years as president, warned of the threats of the military-industrial complex, which could gain excessive power in the country.
Biden recalled Eisenhower's speech in his 15-minute address.
‘Six decades later, I am just as concerned about the potential growth of a technology-based industrial complex that could also pose a real danger to our country. Americans are under an avalanche of disinformation that encourages abuse of power,’ Biden said.
‘May God bless you all. May God protect our troops. Thank you for this great honour,’ he concluded.
