Kyiv Expands Partnership with Seoul: 13 Major Projects Planned

Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery Oleksiy Kuleba discussed with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Koo Young-chul further steps to implement joint infrastructure projects that open a new page in the partnership between the two countries and contribute to the modernization of Ukrainian infrastructure.
The Gaze reports on it, referring to a statement made by Oleksiy Kuleba on Telegram.
The main focus was on cooperation within the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF), in particular, Ukraine's request for preferential financing for the purchase of 20 Korean-made high-speed electric trains.
“In the long term, this is the largest economic project between our countries. It opens a new page in the cooperation between Ukraine and Korea and will be a step towards the modernization of the Ukrainian railway,” Kuleba said.
The parties also discussed mechanisms that would allow communities to obtain heavy equipment to restore infrastructure after shelling, including excavators, tractors, cranes, and other equipment.
In addition, six joint projects are already being implemented as part of official development assistance, and another 13 are in preparation.
These include the construction of a railway traffic control center, the modernization of Ukrainian aviation, and the creation of a training center for heavy construction equipment in Zhytomyr, which will contribute to the development of transport, aviation, logistics, and the training system for the country's reconstruction.
“Korea has a unique experience in post-war reconstruction and modernization, and this experience is now the basis of our partnership. I am convinced that together we can create a modern and safe infrastructure that will ensure the development of communities and strengthen Ukraine,” concluded the Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery.
The Gaze informed earlier that Seoul and Kyiv have taken another step toward closer cooperation in Ukraine’s post-war recovery, as the Recovery Agency of Ukraine and the Korea Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association signed a memorandum of cooperation in the South Korean capital.
