"We Are Ready!" Ukraine Wins First Two Medals at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris: Silver and Bronze in Swimming
The Ukrainian national team has won its first two medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games: Anton Kol won silver in the 100m backstroke in the S1 class and Anna Gontar won bronze in the 50m freestyle, while Anna won a bronze medal in the S6 class.
This is Anton Kol's third Paralympic Games. He made his debut at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, where he won two bronze medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke.
In Tokyo 2020, he improved his results in both disciplines and won two silver medals.
This is Anna's second Paralympic Games and a very successful start.
Earlier today, on the first competition day of the Paralympic Games in Paris, the President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine Valeriy Sushkevich presented a video of the Ukrainian Paralympic team with the slogan: ‘We are ready!’
The 2024 Paralympic Games are taking place in Paris from 28 August to 8 September. Ukraine will be represented at the Paralympics by a team of 140 athletes who will compete in 17 sports.
